The Children’s Shakespeare Festivals
and your theatre

Three theatres will this year host performances of The Children’s Shakespeare Festivals; the Royal Exchange (hosting 3 performances), the New Vic and the Oldham Coliseum. We are also working with other theatres with  a view to establishing festivals with them in the coming year.

Our relationships with this range of theatres are different for each project and result from discussions on the needs, requirements and internal circumstances of each organisation.

Our project is rooted in the primary curriculum and provides a structure for teachers to develop their application of the creative learning potential of Drama. It isn’t simply about generating a performance - our performances spill out of compelling classroom experience. It is this that makes our projects unique and distinctive from other projects such as  the Shakespeare for Schools Festival which has recently expanding its reach into the primary phase.

For some, our project is little more than a hire - although all theatres offer us very favourable rates in order to encourage our use of their building. For others, the theatre’s education and outreach department are thoroughly involved as collaborators - supporting recruitment, attending residentials, working in schools and helping manage performances. We are happy to discuss your situation and establish an appropriate relationship. We are flexible.

So what do theatre’s get out of working with us?

Get in touch if you’d like to talk more.
